Kejayaan film bisu ternyata belum berakhir, hal ini di buktikan oleh film The Artis yang berhail meraih enam nominasi dalam Ajang Golden Globe Awards ke-69. Film yang dibintangi oleh Jean Dujardin dan Bérénice Bejo itu mengunguli film The Help dan The Descendants yang mendapatkan 5 nominasi.
The Help, dan The Descendants juga akan bersaing dengan Hugo, Moneyball, War Horse dan The Ides of March untuk bersaing menjadi film terbaik di kategori Drama. Sedangkan untuk film Musikal atau drama Komedi The Artis akan bersaing dengan Bridesmaids, Midnight in Paris, My Week With Marilyn dan 50/50.
Pengumuman pemenang sendiri baru akan dilaksanakan pada 15 Januari 2012 di Beverly Hilton Hotel di Beverly Hills California. Komedian asal Inggris Ricky Gervais yang tahun lalu dikecam oleh berbagai pihak, kembali ditunjuk sebagai pembawa acara Golden Globe ke-69.
